
Michael Bonebrake, L.S.C.S.W.
Michael Bonebrake is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing for the past 17 years in
the area of mental health counseling. He has provided individual, couples, family and group therapy at a local not-for-profit mental health
center and a small private practice office. Michael grew up here in Wichita and graduated from South High School. He received a Bachelors of Arts
degree in Social Work from Wichita State University in 1987 and a Masters in Science degree in Social Work from the University of Texas-Arlington
in 1990. Michael has been married for 23 years and has a teenage son and daughter.
Michael has had many hours of training and experience in the area of clinical social work, individual, group,
family and couples therapy. He has received specialized training to work with adolescents through the MultiSystemic Therapy Program and the
Functional Family Therapy Program. Michael served as the Supervisor and Program Director of the MST and FFT Programs at the local mental health
center. Michael has also been trained in the Marital and Family Therapy Training Program through the Menninger Clinic in 1995. Michael has a
strong interest in working with couples by helping them to better identify, understand and express their emotions and avoid using anger responses
in their communications.
Michael was a Therapist, Assistant Clinical Supervisor and Program Director at Family Consultation Service from
1990 – 1998 and 2000 – 2006. Michael is currently working as the Social Worker for the Senior Behavioral Health Unit at Via Christi/St. Joseph
Hospital and is doing his private practice work in the evenings and Saturday. He has had experience working with the COMCARE Mobile Crisis Unit
through their Crisis Intervention Services for 5 years on weekends. He has also worked as a School Social Worker for USD 259 and as a therapist
at the El Dorado Correctional Facility in their mental health clinic. Michael is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
