 Education

Judi Emerson is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years experience in the psychiatric field. She has a bachelors degree from McPherson College, with a double major in Psychology and Sociology, graduating summa cum laude, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kansas. She is credentialed by the Academy of Certified Social Workers.

She has had advanced specialty training in family and marital therapy, treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, cognitive-behavioral therapy, communication skills, parenting techniques, play therapy and treatment of child behavioral problems. .

Experience

Judi has provided psychotherapy in private practice offering individual, family and couple's therapy since 2002, has many years experience in a community mental health center working with both adults and children and has over ten years experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, in addition to teaching at a community college. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders and panic disorder for adults and adolescents and in teaching anger management skills. She is also very experienced in couples and marital therapy, focusing on problem solving skills and communication rather than blaming. She has extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy which has been shown to be one of the most effective treatments for mood disorders. She also is very experienced in working with behavioral problems and emotional issues of children and adolescents.

Judi is married and has two adult children who are both college graduates and enjoying their careers.
